R.M. (well almost)

Well Elder Jacob Dixon is now almost a returned missionary!
Jacob is coming home this week on Tuesday!!!
He will be talking in church on June 8th (yes, next Sunday) at 11am. It's at the church behind Payson Hospital. Hope to see you all there.

last email home...

5/27/2014

Good Morning Family.
Well this I really sad that this is most likely going to be my last email home :(
I hope you all had a great memorial day, ours was pretty good, we played softball with the ward from 9-12 and then went to the ward picnic and after a group of members and us missionaries played some touch rugby, we played for a good 1 or so, so right now every muscle in my body is sore. But it was fun nonetheless. And after we went up to a members house and did some fishing, it was fun as well, I caught 6 fish total, but I was just doing catch and release, I'll send some of the pictures that I took.
So things that happened this week.
Well we dropped Nick this week, he wasn't going anywhere and it seems that he tried his hardest to oppose everything that we believe, but he did it in a kind way, I guess that would be the best way to describe it, so we just told him our purpose as missionaries and that we are here to invite people to come unto Christ through the restored gospel. But we told him the we where glad to meet him, and this week we will be going over to get his contact info, to stay in touch in case he has questions.
But I think something good still came out of it all.I have a feeling that he likes the church and the morals we have and I get the feeling that he might stand up for the church when it is citified, because I told him that he was one of the nicest ministers I've met on my mission and that others just want to rip out throats out, he was surprised that people really do that, and he said that those people are way out of line for saying false things.
Also taught Matthew, we taught about keeping the Sabbath day holy and why its important, and it went really well. and they came to church on Sunday, so this week we will be setting up a baptismal calendar with him.
We weren't able to meet with Randall or abdur. but we did get to meet with MaryAnn this week, its been a long time since we have been able to see her, and she mentioned that she missed us coming over, so that is a sign that she does like our visits.

 Yep that was our week.
I look forward to seeing you all in a week, im excited and nervous and scared about the whole idea about coming home.
love you all
-Elder Dixon
The 2nd fish that I caught

The 4th fish that I caught
 My companion Elder England

The last fish I caught he was the biggest, he was the only on the I kept to eat, but some how he got off the line we had all the rest of the fish on, so he got away, probably had the line rip through is gills.

...This week was good...

5/19/2014

So this week was good,
We taught Matthew again this week and it went well, we taught the restoration, he understood it very well. but i don't think he will be baptized before I leave, he still needs to come to church 3 times before the baptism.
Met with Julie, just talked to her about what she read this week and what her preparations are for this week since she is moving this week, she is flying on Friday. so its a good thing and a bad thing, its good cause she can attend church there and that's were her original fellow shippers are at. a bad thing is that we wont be teaching her, but its all good in the long run.
But that's about what happened this week, not to much happened.
Sorry this is a bit shorter than normal.

Love you all

Mother's day

5/12/14

Hey family it was really good talking to you all, I really enjoyed it
this week was pretty good, we taught Nick, and we brought brother Fuller with us, he is the first counselor in the bishopric to help answer allot of his questions that he as been having and it went really good, we were planning on maybe dropping him but it turned out great when brother Fuller bore his testimony.
We are teaching a ten year old boy, his grandparents are somewhat active and he wants to be baptized soon, and he is on the ball, his name is Matthew. we are really excited about him.
Also met with Julie this week, we reviewed the plan of salvation.but her sister is beginning to show some signs of violence and she has decided to move back to California, so we aren't to happy about all that.
Love ya all
-Elder Dixon
5/5/2014

And this week went ok.
We taught Julie this week, we taught her the plan of salvation, she liked it and it helped refresh her memory since she has already been taught everything back in California, and she is still reading and praying on her own, we just need to get her to church, she has a job interview today, so we we are hoping that she gets the job so she can start to move out of her sisters house.
Also taught Randall yesterday, he came to church, and when we went over to teach him, he had some questions about fasting, and why we do it and the reason behind it. He already knows a bit about fasting, reading from the bible "fast" is mentioned a few times. so we asked him what he knew about fasting. and allot of his view points on fasting were on the ball, so that was a good experience.
Taught Nick again, didn't really go any where, he still has some questions about the plan of salvation, mostly the 3 degrees of glory, and how we get that out of the new testament and why we interpret it that way, so we had to go over the whole modern day revelations and we talked about Doctrine and covenants 76 which is really detailed about the plan of salvation. But after all that he still has skepticism about it all.
Abdur came to church as well and he really enjoyed the testimonies that where given. since it was fast Sunday.

So that was the my week, the weather is really nice right now, its been staying in the 70s most of the week, ill probably be sending my winter clothing home in the next little while.
love you all
-Elder Dixon

"... a special pray..."

Request for a special pray for an investigators baby, transfer, sickness. We also received a letter from his mission president that Jacob was made a district leader.

4/28/2014

Hey family!
So things here are good, my new companion is pretty cool, we get along pretty good so far.

The weather is great last week we were up in the 70s and 80s, so that was really nice to be able to enjoy it. and yesterday it rained on and off all day.
We were able to teach Julie again, we just read some scriptures with her, she had some questions about 1 nephi chapters 2 and 3. we also talked to her about getting baptized soon, she said that she will but she wants things to calm down with her and her sister and she wants to be able to move out of her sisters house so that us meeting with her doesn't cause and problems. and she also said that she wants to get to the point that she knows that this is right.
Also taught Randall this week. we taught the Word of Wisdom, he understood it and accepted it with out problem, he is still reading from the Book of Mormon but not as much as he would like to.
Visited Abdur on Friday, he is super stressed out right now with all that is going on with his family, they had they kid about 2 weeks ago and is still having problems with breathing and eating right, so he has been hooked up to machines to help him do all that, but he is improving and getting better, they are hoping that they can bring him home soon. Please pray that Abdur's baby will be get better soon so he can come home soon.
But that's all that really happened this week, wasn't able to meet with Nick on Wednesday cause I was sick with a sore throat and hacking up allot of junk, and I didn't want to be around their newborn and having the possibility of getting sick.
But I'm doing allot better now, but still have a sore throat.

Glad to hear that every thing back home is somewhat ok and that everyone is having a good time
- Love you all
Elder Jacob Dixon

Side note: Jacob is coming home in just a few short weeks now. If you would like to join us at the airport please contact Laura or Cory for details about time and place.

...we saw the wolves....

 4/21/14
Hey family,
sorry that this email is a bit latter than normal. I don't have as much time today, we have had a pretty busy day since Elder Teixeira (one of the missionaries in troy went home today, he has finished his mission) so we spent the day with him and had to drive him to St.Peters so he could go with some other missionaries who are going home as well. And we just got back, so its been kinda busy.
Oh, we also saw the wolves I was talking about :) It was allot of fun, they where really friendly, but some where a little stand offish, but no problems.
Oh ya we got transfer calls on Saturday! Elder Hendrickson is going to Champion Illinois in a city called Urbana. which is about 2 hours away from his home.
And I'm going to be spending the rest of my mission here in Warrenton! I'm really excited that they did transfer me to a new area for my last 6 weeks.
My new companion is going to be Elder England, I used to be his district leader when I was in Sullivan, and I'm glad that they put me with him. It should be allot of fun
So this week went pretty well having a hard time remembering what happened.
We taught Randall, it went ok, we watched Finding Faith in Christ and read 3 Nephi 18:1-25 and talked about the sacrament and the Sabbath day and got him to commit to coming to church and he came yesterday, we weren't able to talk to him since he came in later and left before it ended due to him having to go to work. So we are hoping that he enjoyed it.
We taught Nicka and Katie again that was good, just told him again that everything comes down to the Book of Mormon and knowing it s true.
Also taught Julie that went really good we talked to her about whats happening in her life and she is thinking about moving back to California or Colorado, but she is praying on her own, she would be reading but her Book of Mormon "went missing" and she can't find it so you can probably guess what happened to it. And tomorrow we will be meeting with her and be talking about a baptismal date, even if she moves again she can still work towards it.
But yeah that was our week in nut shell, I forgot my planner back at the apartment so I can look through it like I normally do.
Glad that you got the Camry to start working again, seems like something is always wrong with it.

Well I love you all and pray that everyone well have a good week.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone, may we all remember why it is important to remember the true meaning behind all the candy and eggs.
remember the things that were done on our behalf that we may not have remained fallen, but that we may be lifted.

ps post this on your facebook to share it with everyone you know :D

My Birthday

4/14/2014
Hey family,

So we have tried doing the step thing with Randall, but he isn't to configurable with talking about spiritual things, he isn't used to it since when he grew up, that was something you left at church and didn't talk about it until the next Sunday, that is what his fiance was telling us at church when we talked to her to see what we could do better, the main thing is going to be time.

So thanks for the presents they where great, I really enjoyed my birthday this year. I really loved all the things in the package, tell all the grandparents thanks
We didn't do a whole lot for my birthday, we did the regular missionary thing and we went to our ward missionary leader and they make a cake and the district got me some things, two shirts and some hot wheels. it was allot of fun, I'll be sending a picture of all the stuff I got.
This week was slow. We had most of our appointments fall through so we weren't able to teach anyone besides Randall, we taught him about keeping the Sabbath day holy and tried to commit him to coming to church, but he said that he works on Sunday and he didn't seem like he really wants to come to church, but said that when he gets a Sunday off he will be coming. so we are taking things slow with him to try to figure out his concerns.
We went to nicks bible study last night at his church, it went well they where talking about the end of Luke, they believe some of the basic things that we do, but they use the new King James bible, so it has different translations and I was reading along in our bible and I can see how things get lost in translation, they left out some small things, like when Jesus is with his disciples and he eats fish and honey, they left out the honey part, and there was a couple of other things as well.
but other than those things our week kind of went down hill.
Wasn't able to meet with Abdur, things are still crazy over there and his wife should be having the baby today, so some time this week we are going to go over and help him clean up his house.
Julie is still having trouble with her sister, but we are staying in contact with her pretty often and we are meeting with her on Tuesday. she is thinking about moving back to California, so pray that what ever happens will be.

I'm glad that everyone enjoyed the cruise it looks like you all had fun.
Thanks for the pics.
Love ya all
-Elder Jacob Dixon

Everything on the left- shirts cars and knife is from everyone in the district and everything on the right is from you guys (Mom, Dad, Megan, Roscoe, and Adam and Crystal)

Birthday Wishes

April 7, 2014

Thanks for the birthday wishes family! it sounds like you will be having a lot of fun when you get to the cruise, remember to take lots of pictures!

This week went ok, the weather was ok, we got a lot a rain during the week and it is raining lightly this morning.

We taught nick on Wednesday, it didn't really go any where, he was asking some questions about similar passages in the book of Mormon and Bible, so we did that for the whole time we where there and told him the #1 answer to his questions is reading and praying about the Book of Mormon.

We taught Randall about praying often and the importance of it, and we are trying to get him to pray vocally, but we know that he is still uncomfortable about praying aloud.
General conference went really well, i really enjoyed elder Hollands talk about discipleship. and standing up for what is right. i wrote more details in my hand written letter that you should be getting in the mail.

Nick came to the Saturday morning session and the priesthood session, but he said that there was some things that he disagrees with and what not :/
I don't know how he can say that after the all of the testimonies that were shared and the powerful spirit that was there, i really felt the spirit when president Monson related the story of Joseph Smith and him rebuking the guards.
I really hope he recognizes the spirit soon, and that he will be committed to follow its promptings.

But on a positive note, Abdur came to the priesthood session and he loved it and said that he felt like all the speakers were speaking to him, he really liked president Eyrings talk about heros in our lives. so that was really neat to hear him say that.
When I hear things like that from investigators it makes me very joyful and happy to know that they are taking root in the gospel.

Well I have to get going, we have zone p-day today and we are going to play ultimate Frisbee.
love you all.

Love ya-Elder Jacob Dixon

03/31/14: "week went okay...but I wasn't in Warrenton for most of it"

03/ 31/2014

 Hey Family!!

Sounds like Megan had a good birthday.
So this week went okay, it was pretty busy, but I wasn't in Warrrenton for most of it. We went on exchanges with the Troy Elders and I was in Troy for both exchanges, we did that Thursday-Sunday morning.
But while I was in Troy Elder Hendrickson did get to teach Randall, and it went okay from what I got out of it, they taught him the plan of salvation, and he seemed to accept it pretty well.
We did teach Nick and Katie on Wednesday, they are a couple that Elder Johnson and Coka (Chōkă) tracted into while they where blitzing our area.
Nick is a minister at the Warrenton Church of Christ, and is probably one of the nicest ministers that ive met on my mission. and he has a real desire to know what we believe this is the second time that we have met with him, and we have taught him the 1st lesson. But he does have some concerns that we have answered as best as we could and told him that he cant take our word or anyone else's words about the book of Mormon and how it's important to read and pray about the Book of Mormon, so it's been really good teaching him.
And after we met with Nick we went over to a potentials house that we tracted into a couple of weeks back, her name is Maryann and she used to meet with missionaries way way back and in a different state, so we went over there to see if she might me interested in learning again, and her daughter was there, her name is Teressa, she is about 40 and Maryann is about 60 or 70. and while we where talking to Maryann we learned that she was close to being baptized but stopped because she felt rushed by the missionaries to quit smoking. and while we are talking about that Theresa is asking us allot of questions, and they were really good questions, and they are related to the restoration of the Gospel, so we pretty much taught her the first lesson,so that went really good and she was really interested in coming to church on Sunday, but she wasn't able to change her work schedule in time. I think that they both have good potential, and Maryann has a really good out look on the church.
that's all that I can really think of right now, its hard to remember things when you are super busy all the time.
It's hard to believe that you guys got snow and hail this week. our weather is improving much better now, it was a bit chilly last week, but yesterday and today are in the 70s, so its a really nice change.

love ya all-Elder Jacob Dixon.

This week 3/24/14

3/24/2014

So this week went alright.
We taught Randall the Gospel of Jesus Christ so lesson 3. It went pretty well he seemed to grasp every thing ok, didn't ask a whole lot of questions this time, we talked a little bit more about baptism and re invited him to be baptized when he knows this is true, we tried setting up a date but he wasn't to sure about setting one yet. we are trying to get him to come to church, but he works most of the time on Sundays, so we are going to get him to try and commit to asking for Sundays off. and we left him with 3 nephi 11 to read in between our visits.
And we have some sad news, Abdur pretty much dropped us yesterday. he talked about how he doesn't feel ready for this big step and we tried to tell him that he doesn't have to be perfect to be baptized, and he knows that. but he also told us about how busy he is with every thing going on in his life and how he wants to focus on taking care of his family. so we where disappointed to hear that, we worked so hard up to this point with him and he was happy when he was doing the things we asked him to do, and he didn't seem happy with telling us that he doesn't want to be baptized yet. but the good news is that he is still ok with us stopping by once and awhile and he still is willing to come to church, and still sees baptism as a possible thing in the future, but i don't think it will be while i am here.
The weather is still bi polar! Thursday and Friday was really nice, we got up into the 70s but Saturday and Sunday it was in the lower 40s and 30s and it is supposed to be like that for the rest of the week and we might get snow tonight.
So I've been thinking lately about what I'm going to do when I get home and I want to go to school, but don't know when the dead line is to apply is. I was thinking UVU, so if you could get back to me about that it would be great.
Thanks for keeping me updated about whats going on, hope every one has a good week.
Happy Birthday Megan!!!
Love you all

"The weather is still really bipolar..."

03/17/2014

Dear Family & Friends,

So this week went pretty good, we taught Randall the first lesson, so the Restoration, it went great, allot of his beliefs are really close to some of our beliefs, like the creations didn't take 7 actual days but 7 different time tables, so we talked a little bit about Doctrine and Covenants and the pearl of great price, didn't go into big detail, cause its allot of info to digest in just one lesson, so we are going to be meeting with him on Thursday, he wasn't able to come to church because he had to work. we weren't able to meet with Abdur this week, he was busy and tends to forget that we set up appointments, and Sundays are his only day that we can meet with him. we are going to try again on Saturday to set up a time for Sunday.

We met with Gary on Saturday, they had us over for dinner and we where able to talk to him and sis Karl's (the member) husband Ed, and Gary just has an open mind and is willing to read the book of Mormon, but not pray about it, so that was sad to hear, and her husband isn't interested in reading the book of Mormon, but they are still way nice people and we aren't going to stop meeting with them.
To cap it all off I would say that it was all right. the weather is still really bipolar, it wont make up its mind, it was warm to start out with and we got snow on Thursday and it had all melted by the end of the day, and Friday and Saturday where way nice, we got up tp 70 and almost 80 and Sunday it was 32 and we got a little bit of snow, and today it is a little bit warmer. so im really wanting for spring to finally set in.
Love you all

"We where able to teach a new investigator..."

3/10/14

Dear Family.

You'll have to tell uncle Wade and aunt Laura congrats for me. .
You'll have to let me know how grandpa Davis' surgery goes, I well also be praying for him and grandpa Dixon that his pain will go away.
So how did Roscoe's birthday go? who came?

So this week went pretty good, we got transfer calls on Saturday and both me and Elder Hendrickson are staying here, but Elder Johnson is leaving and going to the Spanish area that is in our zone. So he is still going to be close, and Elder Coka is staying and will be followed up trained by another Elder, I forgot his name.

We where able to meet with Abdur finally and to teach him about the restoration, it went good, but there where allot of distractions, cause they have 5 young kids, but he was able to focus for the most of the lesson, we talked allot about the Joseph Smith story, he has a hard time recognizing the spirit, I guess, and he has a hard time believing things people tell him, but we told him to pray about every thing cause that will solve his questions.
But we might have to push the baptism back a couple of days since we have only taught him the restoration and we still need to teach him everything else.

We where able to teach a new investigator, his name is Gary, he is the grandson of one of the members in the ward, he is supper smart, love to read and has already read the book of Mormon but doesn't remember every thing that happened in it, he is 30ish by the way. and he is supper friendly to missionaries, and hearing from ward members I guess in the past he wasn't really friendly with the church, so he had a changing experience that changed his prospective on the church, so the Lord has been preparing him for a while.

We weren't able to meet with Julie this week, she wasn't feeling to good, so we are going to meet with her hopefully on Wednesday, so next week should be good as well, we are planning on going home teaching with some members in the ward.
And yesterday we had a potential come to church, we have been trying to work on him for a while, he is engaged to one of the sisters in the ward, and he is also reading/listening to the book of Mormon, so we are hoping to be visiting them this week as well.

This week went really good, now we are waiting for the opposition to hit like is always does, but we will smack it back in the face!
The weather was cold this last week, but today it is up in the high 60s! It feels so good, but we are supposed to be getting snow this week, so I don't know what is up with that :P

That's crazy to think that Ben and Tanner are home, you'll have to tell them I say hello. so how is elder Harris?(Jeremy, I forgot his last name) the missionary that was assigned to go to the Ukraine about the same time as I got my call? Cause I hear that things are getting pretty crazy over there.

Well I hope every one has a good week.
Love ya all-Elder Dixon

Trunky papers, new member lesson, a baptismal challenge

3/3/14

Hey every one. so you got the trunky papers?! NOOOOOOO not yet

So when does Roscoe's drill start? I'll have to think about that,
do you know what you where sick with?
That's awesome that Roscoe got promoted to specialist I bet he is happy about that.

So this week went ok, we where able to start teaching Keim the new member lessons on Tuesday, They had us over for dinner, it was really good, she made chicken strips and made a really good sauce to go with it. we will be teaching her the new members lessons with her home teachers and eventually they will teach her the rest of the lessons without us.
we did meet with "J" and taught her the first lesson, it went pretty good, she did have a question about people getting baptized into different churches, cause she went to church with her sister last week to her church and some people where baptized, so we talked about having the proper priesthood authority to do sacred ordinances, and we explained why Jesus went to John the Baptist instead of having his neighbor baptizing him.
She said that it makes sense, and at the end of the lesson we invited her to be baptized by proper authority when she receives an answer about the book of Mormon, and she said yes, we are really happy about it.
We weren't able to teach Abdur this week due to him being really busy with every thing, but we did get to talk to him for a little bit before he had to go, he is doing good on quitting smoking, but he is using the electric cigarettes, so we talked to him about it and told him that those things can be just as addicting as the real things, so we are working on helping him quit those things, he is still looking forward to being baptized.
And the weather here is really cold again, we had really nice weather the week before, but now its in the high 20s and low 10s, I just want spring to come back! We got a little bit of snow yesterday and freezing rain, so the roads where slick so they canceled church because of it. so I wasn't really happy about that, cause I really wanted to go to sacrament meeting at least, so this week is going to feel empty if that makes any sense.

How is the weather over there? is it just as cold like us or do you have nicer weather?
Any more word about the job yet?

Well I need to email some more people.
l love ya all-Elder Jacob Dixon

"So this week went pretty well..."

2/18/2014

Hello Family.
Sorry that this email is coming a day late but due to presidents day the library wasn't open yesterday.
glad that every one is recovering and that the car got fixed.. again, and that Roscoe is getting his wisdom teeth out, and are the Rays his girlfriends family?
And those movies probably where pirated because non of those videos aren't out yet.
So this week went pretty well, Keim was confirmed by her husband on Sunday and he did a good job for his first time, everyone was really happy especially Keim, Abdur came to sacrament but I think he had to go home after, but we where glad that he came, and we didn't even commit him to come to church!
But we weren't able to meet with him or any of our potentials that we have found while tracting. but good news is that we got a referral from church headquarters about a lady that has moved into our area and she has been taught all of the lessons from where she moved from and she is staying with her sister and she is also interested in hearing the lessons! so we are going to be trying to see her today in the evening.
But other than that we are doing ok, Me and Elder Hendrickson are getting along pretty well and having allot of fun together, we are hoping that he well be getting his visa soon, cause another Elder who came out with him just got his and he will leave on march 10th.
So how is the weather over there?
We got freezing rain yesterday in the morning and they canceled school because of it, and it wasn't all that bad driving in it, and it all melted around noon. Man these kids are lucky that they get so many snow days, during Christmas break it snowed for about a week so they cancled school because of it, and they only got about 6 inches all together! man Missouri is very ill prepared for snow, and we saw the other day that the snow trucks where putting dirt on the road, and me and Elder Hendrickson where very puzzled by that; and when we where talking to a member in the ward they told us they are doing that because they ran out of salt, so we laugh every time when ever we see them putting dirt on the road, ill send you a picture if we see them doing it again.
Oh yeah I got my glasses on Saturday :P I can read street signs allot better, but some times they get annoying, mainly on my noise where they rest on.
Love you all and hope that every things goes well!
-Elder Dixon

We went to the local gun store on Monday and they had a Thomson, but it was very low quality, but still cool.

".... another awesome thing happen as well..."

2/10/14

Good morning Dixon family!

Man I can't believe that we are tied for 2nd with medals and its good to see that China isn't up there :P
So if i understand correctly the basement flooded from the side door because the drain wasn't working correctly?
And one of Keims daughters is a member, she was baptized when brother Johnson was coming back to church.
sorry to hear that the car is acting up again, it never seems to not have a problem.
I hope you can find out what the problem is soon.

This week went really well. Keim was Baptized!!!!, and that was the biggest high light of the week, it went great, allot of the ward members where there to support her, and we are very grateful that the ward is good at fellow shipping people into the church. I'll send a picture with the email.
We also had another cool experience, on Thursday we went tracking in the morning and had some plans lined up after lunch and none of them worked out or they fell through. So we decided to go and track the street over from where we tracked in the morning and we got about 5 houses down the street when this older man invited us in. I didn't expect that happening since this has only happen a couple of times on my mission and most of the time people just want to bash with us, but when we got in he called to his wife and said that there is someone here to see her. When this happened I was confused and didn't know what was going on, so his wife comes in and greets us with a warm smile and hand shake and invites us to sit down. We started talking and we found out that they are members of the church that moved from St.Charles in December and they haven't been to church yet, and they asked us who sent us to knock on their door; we just told them that we just decided to tract on that street, so they where really shocked to hear that. They are really nice people, the Ericksons are their names. One of the reasons that they haven't been to church yet is because she is a care giver and works on the weekends and Sundays. She is trying to switch her hours so that she can come to church, so that was a really neat experience to have.

We had another awesome thing happen as well (hope you don' mind the long email) we meet with Abdur on Tuesday and talked about baptism with him and his thoughts about it, and he does want to be baptized but he told us some of his concerns and his biggest concern is trying so stop smoking. He knows that it isn't good but he has been smoking for along time and recently he as been cutting back, and we left him with some scriptures to read when we left. Then yesterday we went over after dinner and set a date for him to be baptized, and that is going to be for the 29th of March!!!, We are so excited for it and he is too, along with his wife who is a member, she was really shocked when she came into the room and we told her about the baptism date.
So this past week was pretty awesome! I love being a missionary and being able to see people accept the gospel :D

Feb. 3, 2014

Happy late birthday Dad! you guys should be getting a letter either today or in the next few days.
So the ground hog saw its shadow? Man I don't want 6 more weeks of winter, not that I believe in that sort of stuff. the weather here is cold its staying in the low teens and we got freezing rain on Friday, so everything is covered in a thin layer of ice, it looks pretty cool.
My new companion is Elder Hendricks, he is from Galesburg Illinois, so he is like 3 hours away from home, but he is waiting on his visa to go to Brazil, so he could be here for 3-4 months or get his visa in a couple of weeks, so its pretty random. but he is a really cool missionary, it should be allot of fun serving with him.
This week went ok, Monday-Tuesday Elder Taft prepared to leave and packed and we visited some members so Elder Taft could say goodbye. and we taught Keim the rest of the commandments and talked about how her reading is going and she is still reading whenever she gets the chance to. they where pretty sad to see Elder Taft go.
And on Wednesday we went to transfers and picked up my new companion. we met with Keim on Friday and just reviewed the interview questions and reviewed some of the things that we taught her, and answered any questions that she had, but she didn't really have any questions, she understands every thing that we taught her.
But she wasn't baptized on Sunday, she wanted her daughters to come to it but they couldn't, due to the weather and it was a busy week for every body, but she is still way excited to be baptized next Sunday, so next week I'll send you pictures of the baptism.
Besides those things nothing else really happened.
We are trying to find more people to teach, but we just aren't having the best of luck, I feel way bad cause in the trainer responsibilities we are to have a big teaching pool and we don't have that :( we only have two people that we are teaching and one of them is getting baptized which is great, but we haven't seen Abdur lately and haven't really been able to have a good sit down with him. I don't know what to do really, besides tracting, but I don't have the greatest out look on that, so its hard to try to motivate me to do that. so that's how I'm feeling right now. sorry to go on about that.
Glad that Dad had a good birth day.

Hope you all have a great week. love ya

"We went to the city museum yesterday..."

Hey family,

Thanks for sending me the pictures to the funeral. Itsgood to see most of the family, I'm glad that it went well.
It's interesting to see how some people look differently than I last saw them.
I'm glad that you where able to read my letter that I sent to grandma. Thanks

So this week was good, we where able to teach Kiem on Tuesday and Friday and they both went well, we taught her the word of wisdom on Tuesday and she said that she would throw out her iced tea that night which she did, so that was awesome and she doesn't have any other problems with the rest of it, she is also starting to read the book of Mormon from the beginning. On Friday we taught the gospel of Jesus Christ and its went well, we had another member there (brother Fuller, second counselor in the bishopric) And he is also there home teacher, and he had some great input. She is really excited about baptism and she always like sharing with us the way that she feels really good inside.
Besides that we didn't get to teach anybody. Oh we had president interviews on Thursday, and that went ok.
We went to the city museum yesterday with the other Elders in our district and we met up with Elder Toki and a couple of other missionaries, since Elder Toki is leaving next week, ll send some pictures along with the email.
the weather is still really weird, it was 45 yesterday and today we got a inch of snow and its 10 outside right now.

So I don't know what was wrong that day when wrote the letter, I just struggled with trying to write neatly. and I haven't gotten a appointment with the eye doctor yet, I'm waiting until next week when we find out what is happening with transfers, we get the call on Saturday what is happening so the next email from me ill let you know what is happening.
Hope you all have a good week.

Love you all-Elder Jacob Dixon
