so I'm glad that Megan's b-day party went well, it sounds like she really
had a good birthday, i sent her a letter with a card and some paper
cranes on a string, I told her not to open it until her real birthday,
do you know if she opened it, and if so that's ok.
so this week was pretty good we found 4 new investigators, James, he is
some one that we tracted into and came back and taught him the first
lesson, it went well we cleared up some misconception about the book of
Mormon.
then there is Ashley and Daniel, they are friends of one of our
members, we taught them the 1st lesson, it went well they had allot of
good questions. Ashley is a former investigator from two years ago, she
stop taking the lesson cause during the plan of salvation one of the
members opened his mouth and gave allot of info about the plan of
salvation and she didn't understand it so it scared her off, so she is
warming back up to us.
and the other is jasmine she was a referral who the branch president referred, she needed some help with some food so the branch president
gave her a bishop store house order, that happens allot out here, cause
allot of people don't have jobs, so allot of the churches out here help
people.
but with all things there most be equal opposition, unfortunately,
carol, the one who lives on Roscoe street dropped us :( she doesn't want
us to come over cause she doesn't want her grand kids getting confused
about different doctrine.
so that was my week, i think it went pretty well despite the bad things that happened.
Love ya,
Elder Dixon

"...this week was okay..."
3/18/2013
So this week was ok we didn't find any new but we where able to get back in contact with a former investigator that fell off from the face of the planet right after i got here, so that was good we will be meeting up with her sometime this week and probably setting a baptism date with her since she has been taught all the lessons, so we will have to do a review with her before she gets baptized.
we also had zone p-day and we got permission to watch "a work and a Glory" and that was nice to be able to see that again, i forgot how good of a movie it was, either that or its probably because i haven't seen a movie for the last 9 months so i think every thing is good. and we had zone conference the following day and James Miner came and did a music and the spoken word type of thing, he had a couple missionaries come up and play the piano and sing and play different type of instruments, there are allot of gifted people in our mission.
our branch also had a chili cook off and a bake off, and us and the st clair elders where the judges, i was so full after that, we had to eat every chili and every dessert, but im still around 145 so i haven't really gained any weight out here since i left, which i don't mind.
so that was my week.

"...meet witht he people on Roscoe Street..."
3/11/2013
Hey family, so this week was kinda slower but it was still good.
We where finally able to meet with the people on Roscoe street, but the grandmother was the only one there at the time. we taught her the 1st lesson, she seemed pretty open to all of it, so we gave her a Book of Mormon and "The Restoration Pamphlet."
And we where able to set a baptismal date for Kim Eye, that's going to be on the 30th of this month, the only problem that she has is quit smoking, but she was the one who brought up baptism, so that was pretty exciting, and we are going to try to set a date with her kids hopefully this week.

Investigators and stake conference
3/4/2013
so this week was pretty good we had 3 investigators come to the stake conference yesterday, its a family, Kim is the mother and Hunter is her son he is 9 and her daughter Matty is 12 and kim, what it sounds like, wants to get baptized, we would have invited her and set up a baptismal date but hunter got distracted so we where not able to redirect the conversation towards baptism but we are meeting with them on Wednesday cause her kids will be coming to ym and yw so that is pretty awesome. we haven't been able to get in contact with the Roscoe street family so thats a bummer, but we found a new investigator!! he is a messianic Jew( a Jew that believes in Christ) so we got him to commit to reading the Book of Mormon, and he wants to come to church next week so that should be great. so this week was pretty awesome.
and the st Clair elders that are right by us in our district, who white washed found 7 new investigators, and some of the m are a part member family.
well i have to go we are going to be going on a bike ride today with brother kofoed, him and his family are one of the coolest families in the branch. ill have to send a picture of them someday.
- love your bro Elder Dixon

Tea bag lesson
2/25/2013
Hey family so to answer your question the tea bag lesson you light it from the top.
So this week was pretty good, it went by pretty fast, we had an awesome lesson with a former investigator and committed her to come to church, it was a good lesson, her name is Kim and she has two children one is 9 and the other is 14, so we taught her the 3rd lesson and she came to church yesterday, and elder Jensen was giving a talk in sacrament meeting since this is his last week in the mission field, but when he was baring his testimony, she started to get teary eyed, so that was a good experience, hopefully we can meet up with her during this week, and talk to her about what she felt.
We also where invited to go to a Pentecostal church yesterday, some investigators invited us to go,so we did, and that was probably the biggest wast of time in my life, it was just two hours of people standing up and singing along to christian rock songs, and the preacher going off on something and yelling at the top of his lungs, and saying "amen, praise Jesus, and Hallelujah." in mid sentence, so it felt like another way to take the lords name in vain, and nobody spoke in tongues, and the pastor was kinda disappointed cause he said that "you have to prime the spirit before you come to church so you don't robe people of the experience, I think when me and Elder Jensen walked in the Holy Ghost confounded the spirit of the devil,so that's probably why no one spoke in tongues, that's what we want to think at least, but every one was really friendly so that was good, I'm just probably never going back to it. So that was the high light of my week.
Oh and we got transfer calls yesterday and my new companion will be Elder Tarrazas( don't ask me how to pronounce it, cause I'm still trying to figure it out) and they opened a new area , St Clair it is about 30 minuets away, so that will be my new district, and I'm still district leader, I don"t know what God wants me to learn from this.
So I read a pretty cool talk this morning, its called. "Balancing Truth and Tolerance" by Elder Dallin H Oaks and it was pretty good, I think you guys would like it.
Well I hope you are all having a great week and I hope that Dad will soon find a job

...don't worry he really does write longer hand written letters
2/19/2013
Hey family so this week was ok, we didn't have allot of lessons this week because they fell through so hopefully this week well be allot better.
So we where not able to meet with the grandmother and her kids because the kids got the flue that is going around, but the grandmother said that she has allot of questions to ask us the next time we meet, so that's really good, we just have to meet with her before Satan intervenes.
So how the tea bag lesson works so you have to get Begolow tea, they are the only ones that really work, you then undo the stable and empty out the tea, so you re just left with the bag you then have to make sure it is standing strait up on someones hand or some flat surface, it cooler when you do it on someones hand, you then light the top of the tea bag on fire, and when the flame gets close to there hand the tea bag lifts into the air, then you can read ether 12, the scripture that talks about faith.
Well I have to get going we don't have much time to email today.
Love you all - Elder Dixon

5 new investigators!
2/11/2013
So this week was really good, we found 5 new investigators this week, 4 of them is a family, there is 3 kids and a grandma, the grandma has guardianship over the kids, and they know there bible pretty well for a 7,8 and 9 yr old, we showed them the tea bag lesson, its when we empty a tea bag and stand it up on someones hand and light it on fire, and near the end the tea bag floats off there hand, so we use that with faith and enduring to the end,so they thought that was way cool, oh and get this, we would have never had found them if I didn' have a brother named Roscoe, cause we found a street name that was named Roscoe so i wanted to get a picture with it, so the first door we knocked on was that family, so that was pretty Awesome.
And the other investigators are some formers that elder Jensen contacted while we where on exchanges with the zone leaders.
So that was the highlight of the week, pretty cool huh?
There isn't any thing that I want you guys to pray for specifically, just pray that the Holy Ghost well touch their hearts,
So I did email Jessica today, and the email worked this time so I don't know why it didn"t work the first time.
So if you could can you give me more updates on how the family is doing?, I fell like I'm in the dark out here, how is Roscoe's progress on the mission papers?
Well I hope you all have a good week and I hope that dad can get a interview soon.
Love you all
